Periapical Abscess

Periapical Abscess

This radiograph, althought hard to see, represents a periapical abscess present on the mesial root of #30.  Oral evaluation appears normal.  The patient gives a history of tenderness in the area when she pushes on it.  The tooth is neither hot, cold or percussion sensitive.  Treatment for this tooth is a root canal followed by a crown due to the large filling currently present in the tooth.
