The weather is getting nice in the Pacific Northwest, which means it’s time to start planning for some summer fun. Vancouver, Washington is lucky enough to have lots of fun activities for the summer that the whole family can enjoy. We’ve compiled this list of a few of our favorite summer happenings in the area.

Take a stroll on Vancouver’s new waterfront development. The boardwalk is a great place to watch for passing sailboats. Stop by the Waterfront Park for a picnic, or head down to the urban beach. If you didn’t pack a picnic lunch, you can stop for a meal or a drink at one of the restaurants or tasting rooms within the development.

Stock up on healthy eats at one of Vancouver’s farmer’s markets. We are fortunate to have several in the area, so you can find one going on just about any week during the summer. Check out our blog post on Vancouver farmer’s markets for dates and details.

Feeling like a more cultural outing? Vancouver’s parks are hosting several free events featuring music, movies, and theater. There are several Summer Concert Series events at various parks. Thursday evenings from July 11th 2019 to August 15th 2019, you can enjoy the Six To Sunset concert series at Esther Short Park. Sunday evenings from July 7th 2019 through August 11th 2019, head down to the Columbia Tech Center for the Sunday Sounds series. If you’re looking for some daytime concert fun, you can check out the Wednesday Noon concert series at Esther Short Park, each Wednesday at noon from July 10th 2019 to August 14th 2019.

Vancouver’s parks are hosting movie and theater events, too. Each Friday night from July 12th 2019 through August 16th 2019, you can catch an outdoor movie at parks around the city. Pre-movie activities start at 7pm, and the movie starts at dusk. Bring a picnic, a blanket, and the whole family! For a list of movies and locations, check out the City of Vancouver’s event page.

Our city has a live theater series as well. Metropolitan Performing Arts is presenting it’s second annual Theater In The Park performance this year, with Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew. They have several performances scheduled in downtown Vancouver, Sherwood, OR, and East Vancouver. Visit their event page for more details.

If adult libations are your idea of a good time this summer, Vancouver has you covered. In addition to our excellent selection of local breweries and wineries, you can get a taste of local beverages at two festivals. On June 7th-9th, 2019 at Esther Short Park, check out the Craft Beer and Wine Fest. If one craft brew festival isn’t enough for you, you can come back to Esther Short Park on August 9-10, 2019 for Vancouver Brewfest.

Summer is the best time of year to get out and about and have some fun. And with all these options for summer fun around Vancouver, you’re sure to have a great time.
